4.1 Sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures
This measure (Chapter X, Para 22 (a) and (f) thereof) provides for an import prohibition of products that are toxic or poisonous and dangerous to the health of the consumers and, if the product falls under one of the situations enumerated by the provision, the prohibition applies. This measure also applies to domestic production, exportation, and distribution of food products. The specific limits that apply are those of Codex Alimentarius. 4.1.1 Prohibitions and restrictions of imports for SPS reasons
This measure (Chapter 6, Article 12 (b) and (c) thereof) provides for an import prohibition of animals, animal products and animal feed that can pose health risks. If the imported animals are found to be infected with a contagious disease, or the animal products or animal feed are found to not meet the standard quality or contain harmful pathogens or toxins, the animals, animal products and animal feed transported into the country may temporarily be detained, and be subject to re-transportation or destruction. The contagious diseases, harmful pathogens, or toxins are those prescribed by the OIE or the FAO Codex. 4.1.1.3 Systems approach

This measure (Chapter 10, Para 22 (h) and (i) thereof) provides for a labelling requirement concerning information directly related to food safety. 4.1.3.1 Labelling requirements
This measure (Chapter 2, section 2.2.3.20 and 2.2.3.21 thereof ) provides for a labelling requirement concerning the imported compound feed intended for aquaculture animals.The labelling of compound feed intended for aquaculture animals shall include at least (a) commercial Name and unique product code (if it exist);(b) type of feed (??complete?? or ??complementary??) and target aquatic animal (for example indicated as ??complete feed for freshwater fish??); (c) Registration number or other unique ID number and name and address of thefeed business operator under which name the feed is placed on the market;(d) Name and address of the feed business operator that imported/placed theproduct on the market (where relevant);(e) batch or lot reference number; (f)net quantity per package unit; (g)general instructions for proper use; (h) the minimum storage life indicated as ??use before date?? or ??best before date??; (i)composition by feed ingredients (materials) in descending order; (j) feed additives expressed in amount per kg or amount per liter; and (k) thefunctional substance(s) and the content of the substance ) if any pharmacological active substance is included in the compound feed. Additionally, (a) the information about the Importer name and address and, when necessary, a
translation of the information on the label to Myanmar or English language; and (b) information about approval/listing by the competent authority of thecountry inwhich the feed is produced shall be provided in separatedocument if not directly on the label. 4.1.6.4 Storage and transport conditions
This measure (Paragraph 4 of the Regulation for the Importation of Cattle and Buffalo into Myanmar) provides for a requirement for which the imported cattle and buffaloes should be transported. 4.1.7.2 Testing requirements
This measure (Chapter 4, Paragraph 4.3.2.c and 4.3.8 thereof) provides for sampling and testing on aquaculture products, including live fish, for compliance with Myanmar food safety criteria. This may include sampling and testing for compliance with organoleptic, chemical and microbial quality and food safety criteria such as (1) one of each ten consignments from the same supplier if it is raw, low risk products for cooking before consumption, (2) one of each two consignments from the same supplier if it is high risk products ready to eat (cooked products, histamine sensitive species, cooked dried shellfish) (routine schedule), and (3) samples from ten consecutive consignments from the same supplier if results of previous sampling and testing from that supplier showed non-compliant results (sampling on suspicion).
